Part 31 - Interruption
We are living in a time of huge interruption. Life was going along relatively normally and then...wham.... it seems like COVID-19 came out of nowhere. Next thing we are living in this strange new world. Interruptions always seem rude and to be gross injustices- particularly if they are big. We were going along nicely and then something like this happened. But really we should consider all of life as we know it as an interruption.
The present world is an interruption of what God had planned. Genesis was a wonderful garden paradise dwelling with the Lord and humanity rejecting God and turning away is essentially an interruption of that. God has promised after all that he will judge the world and bring his new creation one day. It is not that God can't end the interruption right now, but the Bible says that he is giving people time to repent (2 Peter 3:9).
All enemies will be put down and all those saved by Jesus will live with him in a renewed garden paradise. Everything we have ever known is an interruption from that. That should give us a huge dose of perspective. This world is not the final stop in God's plan, he is working all things out to get his dwelling with people in his heavenly kingdom back on line. Maybe we should face the interruption and keep asking for his new kingdom, even more than we want 'out' from lockdown.
'Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven...'
