Part 42 - Why keep it to myself? 

I’ve been very thankful that I have hope in Jesus despite the current pandemic that’s shaking everyone’s lives. It’s shaking mine too, but it is knowing those who put their trust and living for Jesus can have peace and joy even in lockdown. It is knowing this life is not the end, and we will get to spend eternity without fear, pain, sorrow with Him. And that in this life He will sustain us, He will keep us.

What’s been weighing on my heart is that we have this hope. But so many do not. God’s grace is not known by everyone. Not known by my unbelieving friends and family.

Why is it that I’m stuck at home, this sense of urgency and desire grow? What can I do?

I’ve been reading through Acts and I’ve been challenged to obey and be faithful in the Lord’s sending out to share his love and grace as the apostles did. To share the good news of Jesus, despite opposition, rejection and persecution even to death. (A weight has already been lifted that we’re thankfully not gonna die for our faith in the UK)

So what’s stopping me?

I’m not gonna lie, what’s stopping me is that I care what people will think of me and how they may react or reject me. But why should that matter? Would I rather hold the vaccine to defeating death to myself? (Just like it would be hideous to hold the vaccine for Covid-19 to myself?)

Surely if I love my friends and family, and desire for them to have this hope in Jesus that I have. I should not worry about persecution, what people will say or think about it. But care more what my Almighty God, my Father, my Creator thinks if I choose not to.

If you’re like me, then let’s pray for the Spirit to help us overcome our self-centeredness and ask to be transformed in humility, in thinking of ourselves less (not less of ourselves). And that we will be bold in His strength and His wisdom on how we can share His great gift of forgiveness and eternal life. This hope we have in knowing Jesus who loves us so much to died for us, who gives us peace and joy as we trust in Him despite difficulties in life

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” 1 Peter 3:15

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24
